Sungrow has won an order from Verano Energy to provide its PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage system for the Observatorio project in Chile. The supply agreement covers a 152 MW / 606 MWh battery energy storage system with four-hour discharge capability. It also includes a 25-year service commitment aimed at maintaining the system’s availability, performance, and reliability over its operating life.

The Observatorio development will combine a 135 MW solar photovoltaic plant with utility-scale battery storage. Sungrow will supply SG350HX-20 inverters for the solar portion, while the battery system will allow stored renewable electricity to be dispatched during periods of higher demand. The companies said the configuration is intended to strengthen Chile’s power system and improve the integration of renewable energy into the country’s electricity mix.

According to Verano Energy, the project plays an important role in its Chilean renewable portfolio because it links generation with storage, enabling the company to capture more value from solar output and respond to flexibility needs in the power system. The company also said the storage component is designed to maximize the benefits of its solar resources while supporting the region’s energy transition.

Sungrow said the agreement reinforces its presence in Chile’s energy storage market and reflects its broader focus on long-term energy infrastructure. The company noted that large-scale storage can help optimize solar generation, reduce curtailment, and provide power systems with greater operational flexibility.

Chile has become one of Latin America’s more active markets for battery storage development, driven by rising interest in grid stability and renewable integration. The Observatorio project adds to that momentum by pairing solar capacity with grid-scale storage supported by a long-term service arrangement.
