Leading battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) and global chemical company BASF have entered into a strategic framework agreement to collaborate on cathode active materials (CAM). This partnership strengthens global cooperation between the two industry leaders, focusing on advanced and innovative CAM solutions for lithium-ion batteries.

As part of the agreement, CATL has named BASF as a key supplier. BASF will utilize its extensive global production network to support CATL’s international expansion and manufacturing operations.

BASF, known for its expertise in materials science and commitment to sustainability, is a major supplier of high-performance cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries. The company combines strong research and development capabilities with a well-established production infrastructure to deliver customized solutions that meet the stringent requirements of partners such as CATL.

This new agreement expands upon a strategic partnership formed by the two companies in 2021, which initially covered battery materials solutions, including CAM and recycling, with the goal of promoting a sustainable battery value chain.
