Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) and Galbot have entered into a worldwide strategic partnership aimed at advancing smart manufacturing and broadening the adoption of AI humanoid robots across the globe. The collaboration will upgrade automated factory lines, fast-track the large-scale deployment of humanoid robots, and jointly create the first aftermarket service standard for these machines.

At the centre of the partnership is the Galbot S1, a heavy-duty humanoid robot powered by CATL battery cells. The robot delivers a dual-arm payload capacity of 50 kilograms, vision-only centimetre-level precision positioning, and 360° omnidirectional obstacle avoidance. CATL’s cutting-edge battery design integrates particle-size grading technology for cathodes, low-lithium-consumption anodes, and a bionic self-healing electrolyte. These advances drive cell failure rates down to the parts-per-billion level and support up to eight hours of uninterrupted operation, ensuring long service life and rigorous safety on production lines.

The Galbot S1 is already operating on CATL’s intelligent production lines, carrying out extended autonomous tasks in module assembly and battery pack manufacturing. By taking over repetitive, hazardous, and physically strenuous processes—such as material handling and picking—the robot directly lightens the physical burden on shop floor workers and raises overall production efficiency.

Beyond integrating the Galbot S1 into its own factories, CATL will expand its established NING Service Network, previously focused on power batteries and energy storage systems, to include AI humanoid robots. The network offers battery inspection, maintenance, and recycling, and will now provide full life-cycle support for humanoid robots. Through this move, CATL and Galbot will introduce the world’s first aftermarket service standard for AI humanoid robots, laying a solid foundation for reliable maintenance and efficient operations in automated manufacturing settings.
