HiTHIUM, a globally recognized leader in energy storage technology, has announced that its high-capacity ∞Cell 587Ah battery for energy storage applications has officially entered mass production and completed its first round of deliveries from its Xiamen facility. This achievement signifies the industry’s transition into the “500Ah+ high-capacity cell era” and underscores HiTHIUM’s capability in high-quality manufacturing and dependable delivery.
With the global energy transition accelerating, demand for long-duration energy storage has risen substantially. Large-capacity batteries and systems have become crucial for improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing safety and reliability.
HiTHIUM initiated research into long-duration energy storage in 2022. In 2023, the company introduced the world’s first 1,000Ah+ cell and a 6MWh+ system based on a four-string-by-four-cluster architecture for applications exceeding four hours. By 2024, this design had been optimized for two-hour systems, alongside the development of the ∞Cell 587Ah. Derived from the ∞Cell 1175Ah, the 587Ah model offers half the capacity while maintaining compatibility with the same ∞Pack and ∞Power platforms. Through innovations in chemistry, manufacturing processes, and structural design, the battery achieves 94.5% efficiency, supports over 10,000 cycles, and delivers high performance, safety, reliability, and broad applicability.
The ∞Power 6.25MWh system for two-hour applications, equipped with the ∞Cell 587Ah, has also recently begun production, further enriching HiTHIUM’s diversified product portfolio and expanding its range of use cases.
To ensure the high-quality production of the ∞Cell 587Ah, HiTHIUM’s Xiamen facility underwent extensive upgrades to become a fully digitalized and intelligent production line. These improvements raised single-line production efficiency by 17.1% and achieved a process capability (Cpk) exceeding 1.33. Advanced techniques—including multi-pass anode rolling, interface control, and high-precision temperature regulation—reduced electrode rebound by more than 50%, improved temperature accuracy by 50%, and attained defect rates at the parts-per-billion (PPB) level, significantly boosting product stability and quality.
The production line incorporates nearly 2,000 intelligent devices enabling full automation and real-time data acquisition. Key parameters are monitored using Statistical Process Control (SPC) to ensure consistency. AI vision inspection is deployed across more than 13 stations, equipped with over 390 CCD sensors and 3D cameras performing upwards of 1,200 inspections—capable of identifying defects as small as 0.3 mm to guarantee every ∞Cell 587Ah is flawless upon delivery.
