On October 23rd, at the 2025 New Energy Battery Industry Development Conference, Sunwoda introduced its polymer composite all-solid-state battery, named the "Xin · Bixiao."
This battery achieves an impressive energy density of 400 Wh/kg. It also delivers a cycle life of 1,200 cycles under an ultra-low external pressure of<1 MPa, successfullystriking a balance between high energy and long service life. With an operating temperature range spanning from -30°C to 60°C, it retains over 80% of its capacity even in low-temperature environments as cold as -20°C. Furthermore, the battery has passed rigorous safety evaluations, including nail penetration and 200°C hot box tests, effectively mitigating the thermal runaway risks commonly associated with traditional lithium-ion batteries.
Sunwoda Power has been investing in solid-state battery R&D for years. The company has established a clear development roadmap, factoring in aspects like technological maturity and industrialization complexity, with related technologies being developed independently and rolled out in phases.
According to this plan, Sunwoda has outlined four generations of solid-state batteries. The first generation is a semi-solid-state battery, development of which is now complete, achieving an energy density of over 300 Wh/kg. The second generation, also semi-solid-state, currently has cell samples undergoing pilot-scale testing. The third generation is the polymer composite all-solid-state battery, for which the 400 Wh/kg product design and manufacturing process have already been verified. The fourth generation, a full solid-state battery, is currently under development.
Therefore, the newly launched "Xin · Bixiao" represents this third-generation polymer composite all-solid-state battery. According to the roadmap, Sunwoda expects to establish a 0.2 GWh polymer solid-state cell production line by the end of 2025.
Additionally, Sunwoda has successfully trial-produced lithium metal batteries with an energy density reaching 520 Wh/kg.
Beyond the solid-state battery frontier, Sunwoda has also entered the aviation battery sector, adopting technology routes involving high-nickel, high-silicon, and semi-solid/solid-state systems. Product naming in this line also follows the "Xin · " pattern.
Among these, the first-generation aviation power battery, "Xin · Yunxiao 1.0" (energy density ≥320 Wh/kg, supporting 6C discharge), is already in mass production. It has been installed in hundred-kilogram class aircraft and successfully completed a hundred-kilometer flight verification.
In terms of product iteration, Sunwoda continues to push boundaries. In May of this year, it launched the "Xin · Yunxiao 2.0" product, which achieves an energy density of 360 Wh/kg and introduces innovative "soft solid-state" battery technology. This product combines high specific energy, high power, high safety, and a wide operating temperature range, making it suitable for various applications including urban air mobility, agricultural plant protection, emergency rescue, and material transport, providing reliable power support for low-altitude aircraft.
Simultaneously, catering to different application scenarios, Sunwoda has also developed two major technology platforms: pouch and large cylindrical cells. The large cylindrical battery, through designs such as thermoelectric separation and directional pressure relief, meets the fast-charging and fast-discharging needs of aircraft, enabling an 80% state-of-charge (SOC) replenishment in just 10 minutes.
Looking ahead, Sunwoda has clearly defined a five-generation technology upgrade roadmap for the low-altitude power sector, with plans to achieve a breakthrough of over 500 Wh/kg in all-solid-state battery energy density by 2027.
