BYD Energy Storage Signs Cooperation Agreement with Greenvolt Power to Build Poland’s Largest 600MW Energy Storage Project

BYD's energy storage system

BYD Energy Storage has entered into an agreement with Greenvolt Power to jointly develop a 600 MW / 2.4 GWh energy storage facility in Siedlce, Poland. This marks the two companies’ second collaboration in the country, following two earlier installations totaling 1.6 GWh. Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with commercial operation expected by the end of 2027. Once completed, the project will stand as Poland’s largest battery energy storage installation.

Under the terms of the agreement, BYD will provide its Haohan energy storage system, which is built around the 2,710 Ah Blade Battery. The system’s smallest unit delivers 14.5 MWh of capacity—equivalent to 10 MWh in a standard 20-foot shipping container—allowing for a compact layout that reduces land use, enclosure requirements, and construction costs.

Greenvolt Group CEO João Manso Neto said that energy storage systems are critical to building a more resilient and flexible power grid and can support further expansion of renewable energy. Yin Xueqin, general manager of BYD’s energy storage and new battery division, noted that the Siedlce project represents a major milestone in the partnership and demonstrates the industry’s recognition of BYD’s technological capabilities.

BYD has been active in the energy storage sector since 2008 and has delivered large-scale projects in more than 110 countries and regions. Last month, BYD and Greenvolt Power commissioned Hungary’s largest battery storage facility—a 99.8 MW / 288.6 MWh system based on BYD’s MC Cube technology.

The Siedlce development follows a strategic cooperation agreement signed in May between BYD Energy Storage and Norway’s Corvus Energy to advance high-rate marine lithium iron phosphate battery systems. Meanwhile, other Chinese manufacturers continue to expand abroad; Eve Energy, for example, recently secured an 8 GWh energy storage order in India.
