LG Energy Solution has revealed it will join SDVerse, becoming the first battery manufacturer to enter the global B2B marketplace dedicated to automotive software. The move signals the company’s intention to broaden its scope beyond battery cell manufacturing and into software tools and services purpose-built for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs).
SDVerse was introduced in 2024 by a founding group that includes General Motors, Magna, and Wipro. The platform functions as a centralized hub where software developers can showcase their products, while automakers and suppliers can assess solutions based on performance, security, and compatibility needs. As the automotive world increasingly relies on embedded code to shape vehicle features and behavior, SDVerse aims to accelerate progress by simplifying how digital innovations are sourced and implemented.
Through its participation, LG Energy Solution will present five core software modules focused on elevating battery performance, safety, diagnostics, and longevity management.
Battery Platform SW delivers a holistic snapshot of cell condition, drawing on the company’s proven battery management system framework in a format suited for SDV integration.
Safety Diagnostic Calibration Tool enables internal safety evaluations and simulation checks utilizing proprietary battery intelligence, minimizing dependence on outside resources while safeguarding data integrity.
Onboard FRISM (Cell Data Free SOH Model) applies machine learning–powered error correction to assess state of health without the need for direct cell test data.
Onboard BLiS (Battery Life Simulator) provides numeric forecasts of capacity fade under varied driving and charging conditions by interpreting patterns in voltage, current, and temperature behavior.
Onboard DASH (Degradation Reduction Action Strategy for Battery Health) tracks real-time usage trends and supplies immediate recommendations aimed at slowing long-term wear on the battery.
Prashant Gulati, CEO of SDVerse, expressed enthusiasm about LG Energy Solution joining the marketplace, pointing out that combining profound battery knowledge with software intelligence stands to quicken the pace of SDV advancement.
Je Young Kim, CTO of LG Energy Solution, remarked that bringing battery software into this environment reinforces the company’s dedication to treating vehicles as continuously evolving software platforms. It also ensures that battery intelligence is woven into every stage of the vehicle’s existence.
With more than twenty years spent refining battery management technologies, a portfolio exceeding 10,000 relevant patents, and recent CES honors for its software-centric battery life management approach, LG Energy Solution intends to use SDVerse as a springboard to solidify its standing as an end-to-end provider of both energy and software services within the automotive landscape.
