The 23rd China International Motorcycle Expo (CIME) kicked off on September 19 at Chongqing International Expo Center. As the first major industry gathering since the implementation of the updated “E-bike Safety Technical Specification” and two new battery safety standards (GB43854-2024 and GB40559-2024), this year’s CIME not only showcased cutting-edge technologies, products, and manufacturing capabilities but also reflected industry trends and power source preferences in the new standard era.

As the core power source for electric mobility, numerous lithium battery manufacturers gathered at the exhibition. Bak Battery made a impressive appearance with a new product matrix designed to comply with the new standards while delivering high economic value. The newly unveiled PRO-MAX battery series offers a fresh solution for electric mobility under the updated national standards.

True Safety & Superior Economy: Power Solutions for the New Standard Era  

Liu Zhibo, Executive Vice President of Bak Battery, stated: “Driven by the new national policy, lithium batteries—with their enhanced safety, light weight, long cycle life, high energy density, and environmental benefits—will gradually replace traditional lead-acid batteries and become the core power source for the electric two-wheeler market. As the industry enters a high-quality development phase 2.0, safety and economy will become the key competitive factors.”

Debuting at the expo, the PRO-MAX 46137 battery sets a new standard for electric mobility with its “True Safety + Superior Economy” proposition. Using nano-level composite materials, the battery achieves a gravimetric energy density of 190Wh/kg and a volumetric energy density of 490Wh/L. This supports a large 30Ah single cell that enhances range for two-wheelers. In terms of safety, its steel shell structure and directional controllable venting design ensure minimal deformation throughout the cell’s life cycle. It also passes rigorous tests including nail penetration, thermal propagation, overcharge, and over-discharge, exceeding national safety limits.

Economically, the PRO-MAX 46137 battery reduces the cost per kWh over its full life cycle by 50% compared to lead-acid batteries, while having similar initial installation costs. It also boasts a cycle life of over 2,000 cycles, reliably supporting users for more than five years without frequent replacements. With a wide operating temperature range of -35°C to 65°C, it maintains over 90% energy retention in low temperatures and increases range by 130%, effectively alleviating winter range and charging anxiety for users in northern regions. Moreover, its highly compatible dimensions allow it to match most battery modules, making it a potential new standard in the electric two-wheeler industry.

The PRO-MAX battery represents Bak’s second major product launch since the new national standards were issued. Earlier, Bak responded promptly with the release of the PRO-M high-safety battery series—mainly in 18650 and 21700 formats—for balance bike applications. Also displayed at the expo, the PRO-M series uses high-temperature-resistant composite cathode materials, composite coatings, and highly stable electrolytes to reduce safety risks at the source. It passes nail penetration tests, performs reliably between -30°C to 70°C, and offers a cycle life of over 1,000 cycles, balancing safety, performance, and durability.

Diverse Experiences: Bak Powers All-Scenario Mobility  

Beyond the safety-focused PRO-M and PRO-MAX series, Bak also exhibited all-pole and high-capacity battery series suited for diverse scenarios, fully meeting varied user needs for two-wheel mobility.

The all-pole series redefines power standards with exceptional performance for premium user experiences. The 2170-45D model delivers strong power for fun light mobility, while the 2170-50D excels in challenging environments such as beaches and professional tracks, providing robust energy for racing e-motorcycles and sand buggies.

24 Years of Technical Expertise: Bak Leads High-Quality Lithium Advancements in Micro-Mobility  

The electric two-wheeler market continues to expand. According to SPIR, shipments in China reached 49.6 million units in 2024. Driven by replacement demand under the new national standards and trade-in subsidy policies, the industry is expected to see a new growth wave in 2025, with shipments projected to reach 54 million units, and further rise to 58 million by 2026. As lithium battery technology evolves and costs optimize, their safety and economic advantages are becoming increasingly prominent.
