At its sixth Battery Day event held in Changzhou, Jiangsu province on January 13, 2026, Svolt Energy introduced an 80-kWh battery pack designed for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). Touted as the world’s highest capacity for a PHEV pack, the Fortress 2.0 system uses a highly integrated design that improves volume utilization and raises energy density by 6 percent. The pack incorporates ultra-fast charging graphite cells capable of peak rates up to 6C, allowing a 10–80% recharge in just ten minutes.
Svolt also shared updates on its semi-solid-state battery development. Its first-generation high-nickel semi-solid battery, with an energy density of 270 Wh/kg, has entered small-scale production and is already equipped in a European passenger car model. A second-generation high-nickel version, aimed at low-altitude aircraft, offers 342 Wh/kg and has finished installation and flight tests in an eVTOL. Meanwhile, a mid-nickel semi-solid battery targeting mid- to high-end passenger vehicles is set for mass production in October 2026, delivering an energy density of 245 Wh/kg.
Additionally, Svolt launched its 3.5th-generation ion oscillation pulse charging technology, which reduces charging time by 25 percent compared to the prior generation without increasing cost. After accumulating over 20,000 hours of testing, this fast-charging solution will be implemented across several models on a customer’s new platform starting in the third quarter of 2026.
Financially, Svolt reported its first quarterly profit in Q4 2025 and is targeting full-year profitability in 2026. The company plans to ship 61 GWh of batteries in 2026, a 50 percent year-on-year increase.
Originally established as the battery arm of Great Wall Motor in 2012 and spun off in 2018, Svolt focuses on next-generation materials, cells, modules, packs, BMS, and energy storage systems. According to the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance, Svolt ranked eighth in China for power battery installations in November 2025, with 2.45 GWh installed and a 2.62 percent market share.
